He has participated actively in community development projects but more specifically in raising public awareness through engaging and providing legal aid to the most vulnerable Kenyans on key issues of policy and law affecting them such as the applicability of Socio-Economic Rights. Being a believer of the notion that the purpose of Government is to make its people happy and that a positive substantial impact can be made on the welfare of its people through proper and sound Policy and Legislative formulation, he intends to achieve this purpose by serving at the Kenyan Parliament, hence he was an aspirant in the 2017 General Elections, vying for the Hamisi Constituency Parliamentary Seat within Vihiga County.
Key focus areas include;
Education
Ensuring access to quality education is enhanced and available to all members of the constituency
Land Rights
upholding land rights and resolving conflicts in the event of land grabbing
Creating Job Opportunities
Creating sustainable environment that ensures jobs are created and youth and women access starting working capital
Protection of civil liberties
Provision of bills in parliament that will pretect ordinary and every citizen for the benefit of members of the constituency and the country at large.
other focus areas includes; lowering taxes, licenses and licensing fees and the general costs of conducting business for both natural persons and body corporates, lowering the High Cost of living currently in Kenya and bridging the gap between the rich and poor with the aim of achieving societal harmony.
By actively engaging the public and key stakeholders such as the private sector, in the policy and legislative process, He believes that all the above can be achieved. Nelson is a Kabarak University Law Degree graduate.
